Class - The Book of Genesis - Sunday mornings
Kick off the New Year by looking at the action packed first book of the bible.** We are joining the Episcopal Church's Good Book Club in reading all of Genesis through the season of Epiphany, concluding the week of Ash Wednesday (Jan 7 - Feb 11).
Each week we will read a handful of chapters then discuss them with Rev. Nate on Sunday between services (9:20am - 10:10am). All are welcome - whether you are new to reading scripture or have been studying the bible for years, or if you're somewhere in-between.
Jan. 7 - Introduction and Chapters 1 - 3 (Creation & Fall)
Jan. 14 - Chapters 4 - 11 (Cain & Abel, the Flood, Tower of Babel)
Jan. 21 - Chapters 12 - 23 (Abraham & Sarah)
Jan. 28 - Chapters 24 - 31 (Isaac & Rebekah, Jacob & Esau, Jacob's marriages)
Feb. 4 - Chapters 32 - 38 (Jacob's return, Dinah, Tamar)
Feb. 10 - Chapters 39 - 50 (Joseph in Egypt)
You can follow the Good Book Club's daily reading schedule (click here), with online links to each day's passage. Or read the weekly set of chapters at your own pace.
Meets between services, 9:20 - 10:10am
Sts. Francis & Clare room, 2nd floor of the church office building
** The Bible translation we recommend is the New Standard Revised Version (NRSV), which is the standard for the Episcopal Church and the version we read on Sundays. The other translation used by the Episcopal Church is the Common English Bible.
