Welcome!

Saint Augustine's identifies itself as an "open church."

By this we mean that all persons are welcome to come and be part of this community wherever they are in their spiritual journey. We seek to be a safe place for skeptics and doubters as well as for convicted believers.

We are an inclusive church in which people from many backgrounds have found common ground. We are a diverse community which discovered in God a oneness greater in significance than our differences. We have come to know that our variety, in truth, reflects the divine comprehensiveness of the God of all created things.

    In Christ,

from The Rev. Nate Rugh and the Vestry at St. A's

What's Going On...

The Bishop is Coming!!  The Rt. Rev. Jon Bruno will come for his Episcopal visitation on March 4th.  Please plan to join us to welcome our Bishop.

A Service of Evensong:  The annual  Marathon is Sun., March 18th and with its finish line in Santa Monica, it makes the area around the church extremely crowded and difficult to reach.  As a result, services on March 18th will be cancelled and instead, a service of Evensong with sermon and communion will be offered Sat. March 17th at 5:00 p.m.

Please support St. A's outreach ministry through Common Ground - The Westside HIV Community Center.  Contact Deacon Katie Derose (deacon@saint-augustine.org) with any questions or to support our ministry of providing dinners every third Wednesday of the month to 40-50 youth participating in the HYPE (Homeless Youth Peer Education) Program. The next dinner is March 21, 2012.

We also need tutors for our program for HYPE and other Common Ground clients who want to take the GED exams. Or you can provide financial support for these programs by making out your check to St. Augustine, with HYPE on the memo/subject line.

Installation - Save the Date!  The Rt. Rev. Jon Bruno will install the Rev. Nathan Rugh as the 9th rector of St. Augustine Parish on the Feast of Saint Mark the Evangelist, April 25, 2012 at 6:00 p.m.  The Rev. Dr. Harold T. Lewis, rector of Calvary Episcopal Church in Pittsburgh, will preach.  A reception will follow the service.

St. A's Book & Gift Store - please come in, visit, and shop to your heart's content.  We have many new items arriving every week so come take a look and do say hello to our wonderful staff:  Sarah Giorgione, manager and the "Bookie Girls", Alice, Lorri and Mary.
