Adult Study Class Forming: Becoming A Blessed Church

Sudanese “Back-to-School” Art Sale a Success
by The Rev. Hartshorn Murphy
An art show and sale to benefit orphans in Sudan was held on Sunday, August 26. A portion of the sales was donated by the artists and all bookstore sales that day, were given to the cause. At the end of the day, $3,350 was raised to provide tuition, books, uniforms and other resources for 34 children (half of the total number of kids Father Drino hoped to help by his appeals across the country this summer). Schools, in many parts of the world, are not free but we can help shape the future by our generosity today. $25.00 feeds, houses and clothes an orphan for one month. $100 buys shoes and uniforms for one year. $250 covers tuition and board for one term for these orphans of war who seek to enroll in schools in Uganda and Kenya. Those wishing to make direct donations may do so by sending checks made out to "Trinity Cathedral" Memo:"Sudan." Mail to: The Rev. Jerry Drino, 14801 Whipple Court, San Jose, CA 95127. Here are a few pictures from the event.

Expressions of Faith
by The Rev. Hartshorn Murphy
Some weeks ago, one of our longtime members who is essentially a life long Episcopalian, asked Laura why we no longer said The Creed in worship. Laura answered that question well and appropriately but it occurred to me that this would be a good discussion for the whole community… MORE

Blessing of the Animals
Reprint of a 1998 article by The Rev. Kathy MacKenzie
In contrast to some Christian theologies which only see creation as fallen and corrupt, Anglicanism is often seen as a "green" theology. And one of the great Anglican theologians of the 20th Century, Archbishop William Temple, certainly espoused this point of view. He argued that God acts in history through and by means of material things… MORE
