Newcomer's Classes Revised

Over the years, we have experimented with various formats for the Newcomer's Classes. Most lately, we've offered a Sunday afternoon brunch and meeting from 12 noon to 2 p.m. The consensus of the Newcomer's Committee is that 2 hours does not provide enough time to get to know new people or to answer questions those new to us bring to that day. For this reason, we will be trying a new format which involves a Friday evening gathering in addition to the Sunday afternoon time. The first new class of this new academic year will be offered the weekend of October 20-22nd. The Friday gathering will be a Dessert beginning at 7:30 p.m. in the entranceway of the church, followed by a brief class and worship in the chapel, adjourning by 9:30 p.m. Those who attend the Friday class are then asked to return on Sunday at noon for lunch followed by a presentation, questions and answers and general sharing, and adjourning by 2 p.m. Each person who attends the class will receive a booklet "A People Called Episcopalians" for study and review. New Member's Sunday, for those who complete the class and chose to join the church, will be Sunday October 29th. (As there will be a 5th Sunday Breakfast that day, it is hoped that new members will join us to be welcomed in fellowship there as well as for the "liturgical welcoming" during the 10:30 service).

Please be aware that those who wish to receive the Sacrament of Baptism for themselves or their children must join the church prior to baptisms being offered on All Saints Sunday, November 5th and those wishing to be married at St. A's are required to attend a Newcomer's Class as well.
