Christ has no body but yours, No hands, no feet on earth but yours,
Yours are the eyes with which he looks
compassion on this world.
Yours are the feet with which he walks to do good,
Yours are hands, with which he blesses all the world.
Yours are the hands, yours are the feet,
Yours are the eyes, you are his body.
Christ has no body now but yours,
No hands, no feet on earth but yours,
Yours are the eyes with which he looks
compassion on this world.
Christ has no body now on earth but yours.

St. Francis Day Celebration and Blessing of the Animals, October 1, 2006

This year we will bless the animals that provide us with comfort and joy at a Festival Eucharist designed especially for our furry and scaly friends. Our St. Francis Day Celebration will begin with a Continental Breakfast on the Patio at 9:15 a.m. (there are no adult or children's classes that day) and the Service of Blessing with Holy Eucharist will occur at 10:30 on the lawn around the Sycamore Tree. This year we plan to accommodate our pets by giving them the comforts of the out of doors for church. There will be treats and goodies for both Feline and Canine variety of creatures, joyful music, blessings for the critters and a fun time for all. Please plan to come and bring your pets with you. Blessings are also available for stuffed animals for those living in places which don't allow live pets and mementos or photos of deceased pets may also receive a blessing. Animals need to be suitably restrained and owners are responsible for any "accidents" which may occur.

Film Night, Thursday, October 12, 6:30 p.m.

The movie "Millions" by Danny Boyle will be featured this month. "Can anyone be truly good?" is the tagline for the film. Ethics, being human and the soul are themes that come to the forefront in this masterfully written, directed and acted, fun and very rare film when a 5 year old finds a bag of "Pounds" with a few days to spend it before the currency is switched to "Euros." Popcorn, lemonade and sweets will be provided. The film is rated "G" and all ages are welcome.

Winter Family Retreat at the Episcopal Camp at Wrightwood, January 19-21, 2007

This year the Fall Family Retreat scheduled to be held at Camp Stevens in Julian has been re-scheduled for a Winter Camp at our Episcopal Camp in Wrightwood, California. Nestled in the beautiful San Gabriel Mountains at an altitude of 6,000 feet, the mountain setting is perfect for winter activities. There is a warm fireplace as well as plenty of hot chocolate. Plan for fellowship, fun and maybe a little skiing at the near by Mountain High Ski Resort. Save the date for this not to be missed parish event. One of the cabins there was refurbished through a grant from St. A's and is named "St. Augustine by-the-Sea Cabin." Look for it when you go.
