The Susan Tree by The Rev. Laura V. Queen The Susan tree is an annual way that we offer up charity for the children in the Neighborhood Youth Association (NYA) youth programs. NYA is a Not-for-Profit Institution of the Diocese of Los Angeles that provides childcare, after school care programs, tutoring and social services for children and families in the Venice/Mar Vista/West LA area. Each year at their Christmas party the gifts purchased by the members of St. Augustine's church are distributed to the children and youth. Susan Amlotte was a parishioner who founded this project and provided leadership to make this ministry an important part of the St. A's Advent season. Because of Susan's leadership we continue to celebrate her and her ministry by once again having the memorial tree as an opportunity of our charity to our wider community. The Susan tree will be in the entranceway of the church after Thanksgiving. Watch the Sunday bulletin for more information about this vital ministry of outreach and service.
