Columbarium Sale Ending Soon

by The Columbarium Committee

Construction of the St. Augustine Columbarium, at this writing, is nearing completion: a new floor has been installed, mill workers have done their best in building cabinetry which matches well the woodwork throughout the church and the electrician has installed recessed lighting in the new wooden columns to highlight the niches once they are installed. The niches themselves, which are being custom made for us of rich marble to compliment our sanctuary, will be installed in a few weeks which will complete phase one with 71 total niches: 16 large ones which will accommodate up to four persons' urns containing their ashes and 55 small ones which will hold one or two persons' urns.

Beginning Jan. 1, 2005, prices will increase dramatically. During this construction time, the small niches are selling for $2,000 and the large ones for $2,500. Beginning 2005, small niches will increase to $2,500 and the large ones to $3,000 - a $500 increase. The 2004 construction prices will not be offered again once the work is completed at the end of this year.

Niches may be paid for in installments. Generally, the term is one year from the time of deposit, although alternative payment plans are negotiable if needed by consultation with the parish office manager, Carrie Price, who administers the Columbarium Project for the Committee.

Should you purchase a niche and later have a change of plans, the church will refund your purchase price. Some restrictions apply; so please review all the documents at the time of your consultation.

For your long term peace of mind, know that an endowment fund has been established as a part of this work, which ensures that niches are well maintained and the Columbarium Chapel will continue to be a reverent and holy space set apart and yet within our worship environment. Should the niches ever need to be repaired or relocated due to natural disaster (fire or earthquake), that will be done at no cost to the descendents of those inurned here.

Inurnment at the St. Augustine's Columbarium is for members of the parish and their families and is offered as a service to them. These services are not available to the general public.

Those interested in inurnment here or wanting more information, may pick up a brochure on the patio on Sundays, review the article on the website in the July, 2004, issue of Ebb and Flow or make an appointment to come in and visit with Carrie in the office. Those desiring a particular location within the Columbarium are urged to come in soon for best selection.
