Join us on Pentecost Sunday, May 27th at 10:30 a.m. for a Eucharist Barbeque
The church will provide the hamburgers and hot dogs and the desserts and we are asking that each of you join the feast by bringing a side dish of some kind (e.g. salads of any kind). If you can, wear something Red. There will be some surprises along the way, none of which will involve fire! (At least I haven't figured that part out yet...) But no, we won't be singing "Hail thee festival day" (I promise).

Women's Retreat
The Women's Retreat will be held on June 1-3, 2007 at the Holy Spirit Retreat Center in Encino. The program will include both large and small group activities and opportunities for discussion and creativity. All women in the parish are invited to attend. Registration materials will be available March 11th on the patio.

Hail Thee Festival Day: A Pentecost Picnic Invitation
The Rev. Hartshorn Murphy
The Pentecost story, found in Acts 2:1-11, is not a story about the disciples "speaking in tongues" (glossolalia ) so much as it's a story of the missionary expansion of the infant church among peoples of many tribes, languages, cultures and nations… MORE

A Divorce the Church Should Smile Upon
by Jack Miles
Yes, the impending divorce has been precipitated by the decision of the Episcopal Church to consecrate a gay bishop and to allow individual congregations to decide whether or not to allow gay marriages. But as so often in religious history, the deeper issue is one of church governance… MORE

Reflection on Healing
by Michael S. Bell
Many dictionaries consider cure and heal as synonyms because they have shared meaning: to remedy a hurt or otherwise set right an undesirable condition. However, as was made apparent during our Wednesday evening talks, some of us feel an important distinction between these concepts. … MORE
