Thank You from the Sudan

sent by The Rev. Jerry Drino

(Editor's Note: Notes of thanks for St. A's donation of $ 6,715 to the Sudan)

Dear Members of St. Augustine,

The following letter comes from Canon Mark Atem Thuc, Canon Commissary (Canon to the Ordinary) of the Diocese of Bor. He was a close friend of the late Rev. Zachariah Biar Atem who death was reported in the December issue of "The Episcopal Life." Through your generous donations we were able to move his wife, Elizabeth Achol Deu, their children and Zacharia's two orphaned young brothers from Kakuma Refugee Camp in Kenya to Nakuru. They are living in Nakuru with Mark's children and are now enrolled in school because of your generous gifts. Below is a letter from Canon Mark, who you may remember received funds from St. Augustine's in 2003 to purchase a motorcycle to get around the northern deaneries of his diocese, an area a quarter of the size of California with 450,000 Episcopalians and no other vehicle available.

Thanks you for your generous concerns and offerings. We value the on-going relationship with St. Augustines.

Faithfully,
Jerry Drino

23rd January 2007

Dear Father Jerry,

Greetings in Jesus name please pass our greetings and thanks to the donors those who donated the money for our children in school and other help given to the people of Sudan in general.

The children were sitting idle in the house without schooling, but now they are in the school and are happy. Providing them with education is equipping them to be the future leaders.

On behalf of my children and those of the Late Rev. Zechariah Biar who was killed by the Lords Resistance Army in Sudan (between Juba and Torit) on his way to minister to the people, I would like to say thank you very much and may God Bless all those who donated for this children and the Lord add you more.

Attached is the school fees budget.

Thanks.

Yours faithfully,

Rev. Mark Atem
