Winter Camp Update by The Rev. Laura V. Queen On January 19-21, the parish was scheduled to attend a family retreat at the Episcopal Camp and Conference Center in Wrightwood, CA. Unfortunately, due to unusually cold weather the prior week, the coldest in California history, the pipes and plumbing systems at the camp froze solid. It forced the director of the conference center to cancel our reservation on Wednesday, Jan. 17. We had more than 40 people scheduled to attend the weekend ad it was clearly a disappointment to all involved. As a consolation, everyone was invited to meet at the Will Rogers State Park on Saturday the 20th for a hike up to inspiration point, and a picnic lunch. Seventeen people came to the park and a vigorous hike and lots of fun including: soccer, parachute play and hoola-hooping occurred during the festive picnic lunch. Our next family retreat is scheduled for October 5-7, 2007 at Camp Stevens in Julian, CA Information regarding the details about the October retreat will be available in June.
