Economic Stimulus Rebate Checks by The Rev. Laura V. Queen Many of you will receive your rebate checks in the next few weeks. Every retail and non-profit agency will be vying to get a piece of it. We would be remiss if we failed to encourage you to at the least tithe a portion of your rebate to St Augustine for our outreach ministry. In the Fall, we will be taking our annual pilgrimage to Tijuana, Mexico with the Corazon program where we build housing for needy families. We also help the program by giving them the necessary funds to purchase the lumber, nails, shingles, windows, paint and other supplies to build these new homes. All of the materials are purchased by the Corazon program in the United States and then transported across the border. The money you donate from your tax rebate will be used appropriately to stimulate the economy here in Southern California and will help provide shelter for a family in Mexico. I invite you to re-visit my stewardship sermon from November and to seriously consider signing over your rebate check or giving a portion to this important outreach project.
