L.A. Works Day 2002 - June 8, 2002

by Peter V. Haight, St A's Parishioner

L.A. Works is a community service agency that brings together volunteers from churches, other charitable organizations, schools, etc. to improve poor neighborhoods with projects for painting, small repairs, murals, general cleanup and various other needs. They are supported by individual donations and corporate sponsors. My company, Fiduciary Trust will be one of the sponsors this year which means that registration fees for up to 20 people have already been paid for.

There is a sign up sheet on the patio for those who want to attend. Volunteers will have to sign a registration form so the organizers will know how many T-shirts, and lunches to get ready for our group which are all part of the deal. Leave your form with the sign up sheet and Carrie Price, St. A's, Office Manager will mail them all in together. They speak of a $25 fee, but this does not apply to us. These forms are important since they include a "liability waiver" in case you are hurt, but we will work safely!

We will meet at the church at 7:15 a.m., Saturday, June 8th, gather in car pools and get to the Staples Center staging area to join with other groups there and get the instructions and a group leader for ourselves. We work from 8AM to 1PM. Think of this a "Corazon North"!
