Search Committee Forming

by Darrel Menthe, Senior Warden

In January and February, 2010, the Vestry will begin the process of putting together a formal "Search Committee" for a new rector.

The work for the Search Committee will begin in late spring, after the completion of the Parish Profile, and will likely last throughout 2010. It will involve regular committee work, evaluation of answers to written questions, and review of biographical and other application materials. In the later stages, it will require travel nationwide by some of the members, both to interview candidates and see them preach. It will also require a whole lot of prayer.

The Search Committee will operate largely independent of the Vestry during this period, with the space and time to make its own reflections and decisions. The goal of the Search Committee is to select three finalists. The Search Committee will then conclude its work, and the Vestry will call the new rector from among the three finalists.

This may be the most important work our community does next year, so I ask you to consider whether you can serve and participate. Our goal is to find 7-10 people who are willing to serve our community in this very important way. We will try to form a balanced committee that reflects the whole community.
