Lenten Series: Meeting Women Mystics

by Judy Peace

This Lent we will be looking at the life and times of three medieval women mystics: Hildegard of Bingen (1109-1179), Julian of Norwich (1342-1420), and Teresa of Avila (1515-1582). We will examine the Scivias of Hildegard, Interior Castle by Teresa, and the Revelations of Divine Love by Julian. As part of the process we will do short meditations based on these works.

(Judy will be our instructor for the Lenten Series on Wednesday evenings in March 3, 10, 17, 24, 31, 6:30 - 8:15 beginning with a light dinner hosted by teams of parishioners and concluding with a meditation. Judy and Dr. Richard Peace reside in Santa Monica six months of the year and attend St. A's. Judy is a graduate of Whitworth College (BA). She has a MATS in social ethics, and has completed a program in spiritual direction at San Francisco Theological Seminary. She is a spiritual director and a writer. Her book, The Boy Child is Dying: A South African Experience was published by Harper & Row 1986.)
