Christmas Eve Luncheon by The Rev. Pat Hendrickson It's time to start getting into the Christmas spirit of giving. Monday, December 24th, St. Augustine's and Faith will once again host a luncheon for persons who are homeless and in need. The late Mimi Adams; sister to Paul Cummings, the last head master of St. Augustine's Parish Day School began this outreach 25 years ago. It is the wish of Mimi's husband Ken, her daughter Julie and other who have pitched in over the years that the dinner continues as a memorial to Mimi. It is our wish that the role of St. Augustine's parish increase to insure the continuation of this praise worthy event. At this time, the primary need is for persons, young and old, to help with setting up the parish hall and serving the meals. Set up begins about 8am and doors open between 9 and 10am. Meals are served until about 2 to 3pm. What better way to reach out to the community during the season of giving. Put the date on your calendar now and plan to spend 2-4 hours helping with this wonderful ministry. Sign-up sheets are now available out on the patio. Once again, in conjunction with this event, we will be collecting toiletries. This year we are limiting it to toothbrushes and toothpaste. In addition, we are collecting new pairs of socks. Bins will be set up in the Narthex for the collection beginning Nov. 25th. In addition to the toiletries and socks, we are looking for corporate donations of blankets, sleeping bags and new backpacks. If you know of a source where we might get some of these items donated, please notify - Pat Hendrickson at (805) 405-6897 or by email peedeefish@aol.com. Copyright © 2007 St. Augustine by-the-Sea
