9th Annual St. Augustine's Women's Retreat… "Rejuvenate & Recreate" June 1-3, 2007 by The Rev. Laura Queen This year's retreat will provide women with the opportunity to come together to Rejuvenate and Recreate our souls. We will collectively generate a conversation and enjoy activities that will nourish our spirits and affirm our relationships with each other and with God. The women's spirituality movement is one of the largest growing trends in our society. When you Google women's spirituality you will get more than 1.7 million hits. Women have worked together throughout the centuries to find a common circle of friends to engage in fruitful discussion and to search for a deeper relationship with God. Each woman has special spiritual destiny, as unique as the rhythms that govern her life. At our annual women's retreat we set aside time to share conversation and focus on our spiritual journey with other women from the parish community. Jesus affirmed the full participation of all women in the sacred community. His friendships included Mary Magdalene, Mary of Bethany, and Martha. His teachings included feminine images showing regard for women's actions as representatives of the acts of God. Through fellowship and conversation we will examine how our lives intersect with each other, while we affirm our role in our sacred community. It is essential that all women take time to recharge and celebrate together all that Jesus taught and modeled for us. At the women's retreat we will take time to explore how we represent the acts of God in our daily lives and how we as women need to care for our selves and each other in body, mind and spirit. Come with us to this years women's retreat to calm and renew our emotions and your spirit with other women who are on the spiritual journey with you. The retreat will be held at the Holy Spirit Retreat Center in Encino on June 1-3, 2007. A registration form for women, who are members of the parish, and their guests, is found on the patio after worship. Act soon to reserve your place for this year's retreat.
