Commitments of God’s People to Community

Made at the Annual Meeting in 2006

Continue my commitment to teach, cook, and lead on vestry.

I can personally invite someone new to the Men’s Dinner Group.

I am going to make a difference in the 20’s and 30’s group.

Make sure that I greet others that I don’t know as all others should do. More programs for gays to feel involved.

Work harder to be an active part of the church community.

Heal broken/damaged relationship, O Lord, with your love, your mercy, your compassion. Amen.

To tithe faithfully, attend regularly.

Volunteer for one more Sunday school session.

I would like to establish “play dates” with other young families.

The one thing I will do this year is to meet someone new each time I attend mass.

To teach Sunday school.

I am spiritually connected to Holy Mother Church. She invited me here. I love the Holy Spirit. I’m going to partake of the film group, the swinging seniors – etc.

I would like to improve my sense of community by giving myself to Sundays and church (showing up more) becoming a part of something more evolved than my present self.

Make an effort.

Make a new friend each month at St. A’s.

One-on-one conversations.

Take ownership by going out of my way to introduce and talk to people I don’t know. Maybe going to the 10:30 service occasionally. Working in the bookstore or the altar guild.

Deepen the sense of community here through the healing prayer team.

Make a determined effort to invite other church members to my house.

Continue to usher and to aid in teaching the students.

Participate in more of the group activities.

Call or email people I am thinking about, make the effort.

Tell my story of Corazon, make that community connection.

Eliminate distractions that impact energy, focus and time. No room for ingratitude in my life. Ever present consciousness of the sacred.

I will answer the calls from community members to serve on the vestry if asked again.

I commit myself to expanding the healing prayer group.

Seek a common ground within the community to foster a better understanding of the different backgrounds and outlooks in the church.

Come more on Sundays. Continue women’s potluck. Go to women’s retreat.

Being there even if I think I can’t.

Greeter.

Making the effort and taking the time to come to programs.

Be a joiner.

I will share more of my gratitude for community given to me and welcome others to share with me in the community of Saint A’s.

Meet more people, attend more often.

To continue to come to church.

Become more involved with groups throughout the year.

Learn the names of at least 10 new people in the church through participating in the 20’s/30’s group and the vestry.

In 2006, I’ll be dynamic in the film group – consciously, continuously invite others to whatever I do at St. A’s. I will be very active myself.

Be more attentive to the theology and beliefs rather than service and rituals.

Continue in regular attendance and doing “something extra” each month at the Church. Making the most of these commitments is wiser than taking on more and being too distracted to do anything fruitful at present.

Continue to build ministry with various groups. Challenge people to embrace their commitment to community building.

Say “hello” and “welcome” to one new person each service I attend, event I attend and/or serve.

I would love to be part of a “small group” bible study. In my other churches, these groups were the key to building community.

Speak up.

Become more involved in groups and stay involved. Help get groups going with my God given skills.

Be more present with those I attend services with.

Go to adult or children’s Sunday school every week for the rest of the year. Make time for 20’s-30’S group every month.

Participate more.

Continuing participating in group activities

Attend services more regularly – personal commitment.

Invite more friends to attend and continue to follow up with them each week.

Food/cooking.

Learn the names of more people.

Attend more dinner/lunch gatherings.

Participate in more educational series.

To work with the new and old tenants of the school to find common purpose.

Community-wide discussion groups (with coffee) with written solutions to community problems (to be presented to city hall).

Make more pledges in 2006 to the church.

Be more pro-active and less fearful in programs re: organizing and leadership.

“The Chopped Liver Group.”

Volunteer services project.

Make the effort to attend church events and to get to know more people.

I will meet new people, make new friends.

Continue to participate in groups and take a more active role. Extend the invitation to others…

Keep doing what I am doing.

Serve on the Vestry.
