Job Search Announced by The Rev. Hartshorn Murphy
After nearly three years on "interim work," Dr. Judith McBride is completing her work as Director of Children's Ministries. A committee of Sunday School teachers, Vestry persons and clergy have met and developed a written job description, which is available in the office for your review. (Candidates for this position will not be members of the parish).
Judy graciously came on board when our Sunday School was in some disarray following a false start with a former Director. She's done an incredible job in recruiting and training new teachers, bringing to us an exciting and challenging curriculum to help our children in trying to live lives as faithful disciples of Christ in their context and in offering informative classes for parents. In addition, Judy has been a great resource to parents individually in becoming "better stewards" of their children. As a result of her efforts, our church school has grown substantially. More children are enrolled and more adults than ever are serving as teachers. This June, for the first time in a long time, a substantial number of young people will be presented to the Bishop for confirmation.
But following the birth of her third grandchild, and desiring to travel more with her husband Byron who is also now fully retired, it's time to begin the process of identifying her successor.
It is thus an exciting time to begin a search, when we look forward to bringing a new person to a healthy and thriving - but still challenging and demanding - youth ministry here.
